Our Services: Private Use, Employment, and Use Abroad

Choose the service you need and submit your request in less than 3 minutes. Our services are divided into two main areas: judicial certificates for private individuals and employment, and documents intended for use abroad.

Criminal Record and Pending Charges for Individuals and Employers

These documents are essential for public competitions, new jobs, residency permits, or adoptions. The Italian Criminal Record Certificate (general, penal, or civil) certifies the absence of final criminal convictions. The Pending Charges Certificate is required to verify the existence of ongoing criminal proceedings.

Legalization, Apostille, and Sworn Translations for Use Abroad

Need to validate an Italian document for international use? We handle court sworn certifications (asseverazioni) and Public Prosecutor's Office stamps. The Apostille and legalization service is specifically designed for notarial deeds, certified translations, and judicial certificates.

Sworn translations are official translations certified by an official translator registered with the Court.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the Italian criminal record certificate and what is it used for?

The Italian criminal record certificate (Certificato del Casellario Giudiziale), often searched as an Italian police clearance certificate, is the official document issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office (Procura della Repubblica) that certifies a person's criminal record status. It lists the entries in the judicial register, such as final convictions, sentences or other criminal measures, and is issued as “nulla” when there is no criminal record. It can be requested in its general, criminal or civil version to attest that there are no final criminal convictions.

It is one of the most requested documents in Italy for public competitions, public and private employment, residence permits, adoptions, citizenship applications and administrative procedures, and it is also valid for administrative use. Employers, schools and associations hiring staff who work with minors must also obtain the anti-paedophilia certificate required by Art. 25 bis.

What is the difference between a criminal record certificate and a pending charges certificate?

The criminal record certificate concerns the past: it contains final decisions, meaning irrevocable criminal convictions, penal decrees of conviction and certain civil and administrative measures. The pending charges certificate concerns the present: it shows whether there are ongoing criminal proceedings in which the person is already a defendant, with no final judgment yet. It does not list simple complaints or preliminary investigations. If you need the full picture, you can request both documents.

Apostille, legalization and sworn translations for use abroad

Do you need an Italian document to be valid abroad? With Apostille and legalization your document becomes valid outside Italy: the Apostille certifies the authenticity of the signature, stamp and official capacity for countries that are part of the Hague Convention, while legalization is the consular check required by non-member states. We take care of the Prefecture step and the stamps, including for notarial deeds, sworn translations and judicial certificates.

Sworn translations are official translations certified under oath by a translator registered with the Court, and we also handle the sworn statement at the Court for you.

How long is the certificate valid and how fast will I receive it?

The criminal record certificate has a legal validity of 6 months from the date of issue and can be requested from any Italian Public Prosecutor's Office, regardless of your municipality of residence. The request requires your full name, date and place of birth, your municipality of residence if applicable, the signed power of attorney form and a copy of a valid ID.

Standard delivery takes up to 7 business days by email as a PDF, and the original paper copy can be sent by registered mail with return receipt. With the urgent option the PDF arrives within 3 business days and, if this deadline is not met, the urgency fee you paid is refunded. On request we also ship the paper copy by international courier, which is useful if you live abroad. The times shown are average estimates.
